we'd love to have you join our team! We are currently seeking a
Urban Project Planner in either our Philadelphia, PA, Hartford, CT
or New York, NY office. As a Urban Project Planner you will be
responsible for managing urban planning projects that support the
sustainable growth and development of the community. This role
involves significant interaction with public officials, developers,
and the community, requiring strong project management and
communication skills. The Project Urban Planner will play a key
role in shaping the future of urban areas by creating plans that
balance community needs with environmental sustainability and
economic viability.Principal Responsibilities:
- Oversee urban planning projects, ensuring they are completed on
time, within budget, and meet quality standards;
- Conduct research on demographic trends, land use patterns, and
environmental impacts to inform project planning;
- Collaborate with public officials, developers, community
members, and other stakeholders to gather input and build consensus
on planning initiatives;
- Develop comprehensive plans for land use, zoning, public
utilities, community facilities, and transportation networks;
- Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to analyze spatial
data and create maps for planning purposes;
- Facilitate public meetings, workshops, and hearings to engage
the community and gather feedback on planning proposals;
- Ensure all planning activities comply with local, state, and
federal regulations;
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations to communicate
planning proposals and findings to stakeholders;
- Promote sustainable development practices and integrate
environmental considerations into planning processes.Required
Skills/Abilities:
- Skilled in AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, and SketchUp;
- Good research skills, and good written and verbal communication
skills;
- Developing proficiency of design techniques, tools, and
concepts involved in the production of technical design plans and
reports;
- Attention to detail and developing design problem-solving
skills;
- Good organizational and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment;
- Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff;
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges;
- Advanced Proficiency with Microsoft and MS Office Suite
including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook.Education and
experience:
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Planning, Environment
Studies, Architecture, or Arts, or equivalent required;
- 3 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in urban
development;
- American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) Certification
preferred;OR
- Associates degree, or certificate, in Planning, Environmental
Studies, Geography, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Art, or
equivalent preferred;
- 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in urban
development;
- American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) Certification
preferred;
- This position is not eligible for sponsorship.Salary Range
$89,000- $116,000. Minimums and maximums may vary based on
location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including
experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant.
Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership
