Position Description:
The OR Nurse functions as Circulator/Scrub Nurse in the Operating
Room. Organizes and administers individualized, professional
patient care to patients within the Operating Room. Provides
nursing care in accordance with the objectives, policies,
procedures and protocols of the hospital and AORN, ASPAN and SGNA
standards. Participates in patient teaching; incorporates the needs
and behavior of the patient's specific age/cultural groups in
planning and providing care. Participates in quality improvement
activities.
The Neuro Operating Room (OR) team provides highly specialized care
for patients undergoing neuro and spine surgeries. Conditions
treated include brain tumors, vascular malformations, essential
tremors, degenerative spine disease, chronic back pain, neuro/spine
trauma, spinal cord injuries, infections, hydrocephalus, and
complications from acute stroke. Nurses play a critical role in
delivering this specialized care, ensuring patient safety and
well-being throughout these complex procedures.Qualifications - - -
- - - - - - Current active CT RN License
- - - - - - - - - Previous OR experience required (OR Novice
nurses, including Graduate Nurses, may apply to the OR Nurse
Transition to Practice Program)
- - - - - - - - - BSN Preferred
- - - - - - - - - Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
at time of hire
- - - - - - - - - Excellent interpersonal skills
- - - - - - - - - Independent problem-solving skills
- - - - - - - - - Excellent communication skills
- - - - - - - - - CNOR certification preferred
