OverviewLocation: Divisional Headquarters, Finance Department
(Hartford, CT)Status: Exempt, Full-timeHours Per Week: 40Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.Scope of Position: Oversee
the management, compliance, and administration of grants received
by the organization. Ensure that all grant-funded programs align
with donor requirements, regulatory standards, and internal
policies and procedures. Work closely with grant writers and
overseeing accountants. Manage grant reporting, monitoring, and
risk assessment to support the organization's mission and financial
sustainability.Responsibilities
- Oversee the budgeting, reporting, and closeout of all grants
within Connecticut and Rhode Island.
- Work alongside accountants and program administrators to ensure
funds are being utilized in a timely manner and are being recorded
correctly.
- Ensure adherence to all grantor requirements, federal and state
regulations, and organizational policies.
- Conduct compliance reviews and risk assessments.
- Review and submit timely financial and narrative reports to
donors, ensuring accuracy and completeness of information.
- Maintain proper documentation for audits and monitoring
visits.
- Work with the finance and program teams to develop grant
budgets, track expenditures, and ensure proper allocation of
funds.
- Address budget variances and compliance concerns.
- Provide guidance and training to program and finance teams on
grant compliance, donor regulations, and reporting procedures.
- Serve as the point of contact with grantors, funding agencies,
and partners regarding compliance matters and grant
administration.
- Develop and update policies and procedures related to grant
management and compliance to ensure adherence to best
practices.
- Coordinate grant audits and monitoring visits to ensure all
documentation and processes align with grantor expectations.
- Effectively communicate complex financial issues to employees,
administrators, auditors, the public, and granting agencies.
- Develop positive working relationships to foster collaborative
grant coordination and an oversight environment.Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, finance, business
administration, or a related field is highly preferred.
- A minimum of three years of experience in grant management,
compliance, and reporting within a nonprofit is required.
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and private grant
regulations, including OMB Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with
experience in grant management.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to monitor budgets,
track expenses, and ensure compliance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft-based software and financial reporting
tools.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and manage
multiple projects with strict deadlines.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving
skills.
- Skill in researching, analyzing, and evaluating complex
financial data.
- Will respect and promote the interest of The Salvation Army.
