Job Description:
This individual provides efficient and effective safety
consulting services to clients in accordance with department and
company policies and procedures.Principal Duties and
Requirements:
- Identify, assess, and conduct risk evaluations of workers'
compensation loss exposures and controls through a review of
operations and safety culture for prospective, new, and existing
policyholders in a variety of industries.
- Build relationships with external and internal key stakeholders
in introducing and delivering loss control strategies and solutions
that will reduce potential for and the financial impact of
workplace employee injuries.
- Provide ongoing consultative loss control service to
policyholders as a trusted advisor in order to set the strategic
vision and create action plans to deliver effective results.
Utilize exceptional safety leadership skills, effective
communication, and business acumen to support retention and new
business goals.
- Utilize analytical tools and loss information to identify
trends that will provide a roadmap for a loss control service
strategy.
- Develop and present loss control services and strategies, as
well as technical safety education to internal/external and
technical/non-technical audiences at varying business levels.
- Travel within assigned territory (by car and occasional
airplane travel for company meetings and policyholder locations) to
perform on-site field service visits. Leverage technology when
appropriate to provide remote service visits.
- Lead and/or participate in projects as assigned.Minimum
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Safety Engineering or similar
technical field or equivalent in education and experience.
- Preferred experience with field loss control consulting in the
insurance industry.
- Proven track record of effective performance critical to the
success of the consultant and the policyholder.
- Adapts well to change, embraces forward thinking, demonstrates
acumen in the role of a business partner, takes collaborative
approach to problem solving and ability to drive performance from
all areas of an organization.
- Designations relevant to the field of specialization are
preferred and strongly encouraged; i.e., WCP, ASP, CSP, ARM, MS
Degree in a specialty area.Working Conditions:
- The work environment is primarily in the field with the
customer.
- The consultant's principal office is located at the
individual's home.
- Willingness to travel within the regional territory.
- Will be required to stand and/or sit for extended periods.
- Will be required to work with a Video Display Terminal
including laptop computers, computer workstations, and other
electronic devices.
- May be required to do occasional reaching and bending.
- May be required to occasionally exert physical effort
(lifting/carrying) using appropriate equipment if needed.
- This is a professional position requiring non-traditional work
hours. These hours are based upon the customer's demands and
expectations.
- The individual must have the capacity and flexibility to travel
in all states where MEMIC has customers.

position is $85,000 - $115,000 annually with annual bonus
