You will operate as a trusted advisor for our key technologies, platforms and capability domains, creating clear and concise communications, code samples, blog posts and other material to share knowledge both inside and outside the organization. You will specialize in a particular subject area, but your input and impact will be sought and expected throughout the organization.In this position you will play a critical role in driving Operational Excellence and Reliability tooling initiatives. You will lead scope across multiple teams and will be responsible for designing scalable solutions using the latest technologies for enterprise level platforms. You will design, architect and build solutions to enhance incident management, problem management and reliability automation practices across the enterprise. Examples include: driving adoption of modern architecture techniques like adaptive retries and - cell-based architecture, implementing enterprise-wide recovery tooling for our fleet of over 1,000 applications, automating rollback processes to ensure we have self healing practices without humans, and leading the consolidation of tools and features within our AION Operations and Recovery Platform.If you are ready to provide thought leadership and build engineering excellence across Capital One's engineering teams, come join us in our mission to change banking for good.

  • Bachelor's Degree -
  • At least 9 years software engineering experience
  • At least 5 years public cloud technologies experiencePreferred Qualifications:
    • Masters' Degree -
    • 12+ years of experience in software engineering or solution architecture
    • 9+ years of experience designing and building enterprise platforms

Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.McLean, VA: $308,700 - $352,300 for Sr Distinguished Engineer -New York, NY: $336,700 - $384,200 for Sr Distinguished Engineer -Plano, TX: $280,600 - $320,200 for Sr Distinguished Engineer - - - - - - - -Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
